The restoration took place at the PreservArt Kft. workshop, with the collaboration of wood, textile, and photo conservators.
The image was taken by photographer József Skopáll (1814–1870). It is a colored talbotype depicting an unknown elderly man seated. The coloring was done by someone with sophisticated painting skills. The case in which the Talbot type was placed is similar to the wooden boxes lined with silk and velvet that were previously used for daguerreotypes.
