From band-aids to book protection

Neschen Coating GmbH has a history spanning 130 years. One of its first products was a band-aid, but today the company manufactures nearly twenty different types of book protection films.

The films are divided into two main groups:

- Films with low initial adhesion

- Films with high initial adhesion

What is the difference?

Low-initial-tack films reach their final bond within 24 hours. Before that, they can be peeled off and reapplied.

High-initial-tack films have strong adhesion immediately.

Why is this good for us?

If we know the film’s properties, we won’t run into trouble!

In the case of films with low initial adhesion, we can try again after a failed application. Creases can be smoothed out, and air bubbles can be removed.

We recommend films with high initial adhesion for users experienced in bookbinding. They have immediate adhesion, so once applied, there is no way to peel them back or correct mistakes. A better result can be achieved, but it requires more practice. In return, they provide greater protection immediately.

Why laminate?

By applying protective film, we can ensure a longer lifespan for books at a fraction of their cost.

It can be used to protect elementary school textbooks.

Most films have antibacterial properties. 99.9% of bacteria are eliminated from their surface within 24 hours without any additional intervention.
